Marriage License

You may only apply for your Marriage License in Fayette County, Ohio if:

• At least one of the applicants is a Fayette County, Ohio resident or both applicants live outside the State of Ohio and plan to get married in Fayette County, Ohio.
• Marriage Licenses are valid for sixty (60) days.

If either applicant is under the age of 18, please call the Fayette County Juvenile Court for assistance at 740-335-0640.

Complete the online application

You must wait 24 hours after completing the online application before calling the Probate Court to schedule your appointment. This is due to processing time within the program. Both parties must be present at the Probate Court to complete the Marriage License process.

Call the Fayette County Probate Court to schedule your in-person appointment to complete the process. The appointment will not be sooner than 24 hours after your online submission.

Arrive at the Fayette County Probate Court for your appointment, with all your documents and filing fee. Both applicants must appear together.

You will receive your Marriage License at the end of your appointment and can use it immediately.

This Court does not perform Marriage ceremonies.
